Chelsea Edwards
Production Design

About
I am Chelsea Edwards, a final year filmmaking student focusing on Production and costume design. I am aiming to join the filmmaking industry in costume and makeup, practising with horror SFX and clothing design.
After teaching myself horror SFX, I have gained a variety of techniques on makeup for a multitude of different film genres. I have also explored multimedia in prop making using eco friendly ideas in my costumes and props with recycled and reused materials.
Soul Bird
Aila has lost complete confidence and belief in herself after her engagement goes to ruin so much so that it has left her unable to continue living. Before it goes too far, Lilut, an underwater creature stops her, showing her kindness and love. The story heavily focuses on its strong female characters and their support to each other.
I worked as the makeup designer, designing and applying the siren SFX.

The Footprint Follows

The Footprint follows was a Kodak advertisement submission for The Soil Association that followed a couple on their wedding day and a gruelling surprise. The tag line is "Your footprint is your partner... For life".
The advert covers The Soil Associations pledge for our planet, a pledge everyone on the crew had taken as well as calculating our own carbon footprint. On the advert I worked as the costume and makeup designer, my main project being the looming foot that follows our bride and groom.

In Umbra Somnia
In Umbra Somnia follows the story of a young girls denial of the loss of her father. She runs away from the truth and stays with her reclusive grandmother. The grandmother, Ingrid, whittles away constantly at pieces of wood, depicting her dreams and nightmares. Whilst there, Eden finds meaning within these twisted figures.
On this film, I worked as costume and makeup designer as well as prop designer for the fake wood carvings.

Leda and the Swan
Leda and the Swan modernizes the Greek myth and adapts it to the woman, Leda's, point of view.
Nina the model representing Leda, dances for control against the Michel, the Artist representing the Swan. The two battle until Leda is forced to choose a side, her career or her comfort, and sits for the painting with a haunting scowl.
On this I was Assistant PD and Makeup Designer, using Greek romanticism as a periodical setting.
Delilah
Delilah covers the heavy topic of childloss, and life after grief. After losing her child after a miscarriage, Delilah struggles with her emotions physically and mentally recovering, She finds acceptance with life and blossoms into a new version of herself, living wth her loss.
I got to work as makeup and costume designer, making SFX floral designs on our actress Langa Ncube.
